Apologies up front on the start of this Substack in the timing of a proper introduction. Thomas Doane and I have been rather busy as we prepare for the upcoming Master of Arts Philosophy of Religion at Palm Beach Atlantic University under Christian Apologists Dr. Paul Copan and Dr. Paul Gould.
Personally I will not keep this very long. I am founder and editor of Truth In Focus, All Things Veritas, and the E.K.R. Report. That does not make me special nor do my degrees in political science, higher education, and now philosophy. But I do keep myself busy as I am working on several books, one non-fiction and another fiction.
Thomas and I have known each other for four years now and it is a privilege to be working alongside a man as smart and kind as he. This “blog” if you will, is likely going to be full of cultural references and cliches but I promise it is all in good jest. Ultimately though this will be a Substack dedicated to Philosophy.
In preparation for my course I have decided to take the path of the ancients by starting in the beginning. Currently I am putting together a systematic study of philosophy—at least—all western (some eastern) philosophy from the Pre-Socratics to Modern Day. So I will be sharing my work here on Philosophsarus Rex. Discussing events, people, cultures, and ideas—it will be a thorough study I promise you—a quest through books and research. It is my hope that this form of study will be of help to future student of wisdom.
Final note, I will eventually explain my philosophy as I do have my own, but I wanted to explain that it is rooted in the Christian faith and in what I call Primitive Conservatism:
A form of conservative thought detached from a particular time or place, but rather seeking to incarnate eternal principles discovered throughout all human history. It values the rights of individuals through the understanding that liberty and freedom are not detached from principles that uphold their stability. In order to maintain individual rights there are required responsibilities and encouraged responsibilities laid upon citizens, institutions, and governments alike. No society on earth lacks responsibilities rather fewer societies openly acknowledge their necessity choosing instead a lesser form of liberty. Primitive Conservatism seeks to frame and structure responsibilities into laws, norms, and mores. Virtue is its primal source. Liberty is a living structure that requires constant care. Specifically, primitive conservatism is concerned with three areas pertaining to the survival of liberty at large: Morality, Justice, and Dignity.
Alright, alright lets do this folks! Weekly I will be providing a post on Systematic Philosophy! And yes, from time to time Thomas and I will be doing special posts and videos to discuss issues of philosophy and theology at that.
